June Newsletter

Hi all, well as the summer equinox approaches the thunder storms begin!  Unfortunately our last clear round jumping evening fell victim, but hopefully we will dodge the showers with the many events we have coming up for you.  We have further dates for clear round jumping; our very popular summer dressage league starts on Fri 21st June. Our infamous summer camp (now fully booked!) takes place at the beginning of August but we do have an 'open to all members' dressage competition on Sunday 4th Aug.  We have two Dressage to Music competitions this summer - so get those old CDs out & show us what's hot to trot!

If you would like any help with any of this, we have training on going with Karen & Nikki - please see our website for details.

Back in the half term, our juniors had a rally organised by Trish & taught by Karen at the Paddocks.  I took my pony Sauber along as a spare which George rode beautifully for me.  Great fun was had by all learning about pole work.

At the beginning of June some of the committee members took their horses & ponies along to Heazle to learn about horse agility with Lotta van de Heyde.  This has given us plenty to think about & we are planning on bringing

what we have learnt to you soon!

Last Saturday saw the first of this year’s musical ride practice.  This is open to everyone & is just a bit of fun & a good way to get to know everyone & their horses & ponies.  The next two sessions will be on Sun 7th & Sun 21st July 11am @ The Paddocks, £5 per session.  For details contact Kate-  huskykate4@gmail.com

Please check out our website for all details of upcoming events & general info - Emma is doing a fantastic job for us with our website.  Kate x

Boris goes to his first pony party.

By Committee member Emma Pearce.

I decided to take Boris to his first pony party last week. Kate contacted me to see if I'd like to do a pole work training session and thought let's do this. The lesson was at Curland with the fabulous Nikki Lumb. Boris has never been in an arena with other ponies so all very exciting. We did have a leap and a buck at the beginning. Words came to me 'I'm to old for this' 'right that's it I'm not taking him to camp it's all too exciting for him'. Anyway he soon settled and took it all in his stride. At the beginning I said to Nikki I might just walk the whole lesson..... By the end we were trotting round, doing trot poles and we even managed a teeny tiny cross pole!! This was a huge achievement for me! Looking forward to more training with club.
